Who are we and why did we develop BASTET?

We are a group of engineers, technicians, and visionaries who think about energy storage efficiency not only for households

Every day, a huge amount of energy is produced around us, which ultimately goes to waste.

When the sun shines, photovoltaic power plants produce more than the grid can handle. When it gets dark, we have to turn the power plants back on and buy expensive energy back.

The result? Price fluctuations, an overloaded grid, and inefficient energy management.

We wanted to change that.

We came up with a simple idea

This how BASTET started

Our goal was to give households and businesses a tool to become more energy self-sufficient while helping to stabilize the power grid.

What if we simply stored that energy? Not in expensive batteries, but in heat—in a material that is cheap, safe, and can hold it for a long time.

Technology that allows households to use what they have already produced and gives the energy grid room to breathe. We want energy to work for people, not against them.

What is BASTET?

BASTET (Breakthrough Accumulation System for Thermal Energy Transfer) is an innovative Czech technology for thermal energy storage.
We are developing a system that will enable households and businesses to efficiently use surpluses from renewable sources and stabilize the energy grid.
Our solution combines high storage capacity, safety, long service life, and low costs – without compromise.

  • Developed in cooperation with the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen
  • Protected by a European patent
  • Sustainability. Efficiency. Self-sufficiency

How BASTET works: a new standard in thermal energy storage

The basis of BASTET is a closed storage chamber filled with a special mixture of storage bricks with an exceptionally high specific heat capacity.
We developed and tested this material for several years before achieving the optimal combination of temperature stability, durability, service life, and low price.

The actual “charging” takes place in this chamber:

1️⃣ Charging using heating cables

Powerful heating cables transfer energy to the storage material.
The entire chamber is sealed, multi-layered insulated, and safe for operation in a standard utility room.

  • Maximum storage capacity: up to 270 kWh of thermal energy.
  • Operating temperature of the storage section: up to 400 °C.

This high capacity allows you to bridge even several days of low production or high electricity prices.

2️⃣ Patented heat transfer system

Our unique design includes insulating partitions separating the storage core from the DHW tank and heat exchanger.
This makes the core itself perfectly thermally stable while allowing for immediate heat extraction according to household needs.

Using patented technology, heat is transferred in a controlled manner:

  • to heating,
  • to DHW heating

BASTET operates automatically, without user intervention.

3️⃣ Smart charging management

Charging is intelligent — always at times when energy is cheapest or in surplus.

The system evaluates:

  • production from the PV system,
  • spot electricity prices,
  • current storage status,
  • expected household heat demand.

As a result, BASTET mainly charges when electricity is cheap or “free” from PV system surpluses.

Savings that make sense

Thanks to its combination of high storage capacity, smart control, and low investment costs, BASTET can reduce operating costs by up to:

  • 60% compared to gas heating,
  • 85% compared to conventional electric heating.

No complicated maintenance, no battery storage risks, and a service life measured in decades.

Heat that works for you

BASTET enables households and businesses to become more energy self-sufficient and less dependent on price fluctuations.
It is a technology that uses surplus energy where it makes the most sense — in heat.

And now, the first fully functional prototype is being developed, which will take heat storage in Czechia one step further.

Be part of the heating revolution

If you are interested in the idea of smart heat storage, now is the right time to get involved. The BASTET project is entering a crucial phase, and we are looking for companies, technical experts, investors, and energy suppliers who want to be part of the birth of a new technology from the very beginning. Together, we can change the way households and businesses think about heat—in a more modern, efficient, and significantly cheaper way.
